Vanessa Williams Moves to Wisteria Lane

Dana Delany's Katherine Mayfair may have left Wisteria Lane for Europe with her new lady love (played by Julie Benz), but Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry didn't take long to find a new star to join the cast.

ABC announced Tuesday that Vanessa Williams will play a "wicked new housewife" in the show's seventh season. Williams is coming off four years playing Wilhelmina Slater on Ugly Betty and is currently performing on Broadway in Sondheim on Sondheim.

Delany left Desperate Housewives to star in a new series for ABC, Body of Proof. She's playing a medical examiner on the crime drama.
