Republicans Donate for Marriage Equality

Ken Mehlman isn't the only Republican raising funds for the American Foundation for Equal Rights.

According to an invitation for the fund-raising event he's cohosting, other notable Republicans attending to support legal efforts to overturn Proposition 8 and legalize marriage equality include campaign strategist Steve Schmidt, attorney Ben Ginsberg, and former New Jersey governor Christie Todd Whitman.

As Ben Smith at Politico points out, the event is at the home of Paul Singer, the hedge fund manager who has been a strong Wall Street presence in Republican politics.
