University of Michigan Student Assembly president Chris Armstrong dropped a personal protection order against the state's assistant attorney general prior to a scheduled hearing on the matter scheduled for Monday afternoon.
The hearing was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in the Washtenaw County trial court, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The first openly gay president of the student assembly, Armstrong became a target for assistant attorney general Andrew Shirvell (pictured), who wrote about the student in a blog that has since been made private. Shirvell wrote several inflammatory posts about Armstrong, calling him a Nazi, and accusing him of promoting a "satanic" lifestyle. Armstrong initially brushed off the taunts but eventually filed for the order in September after Shirvell reportedly started to stalk him.
