Jon Ireland of London won the contest to be on the cover of Metro newspaper in the U.K., and used the opportunity Tuesday to propose to his boyfriend, Ben Collins.
The cover, which appeared on Metro throughout the country, read, "To my darling Ben Daniel Collins. Will you marry me? Lots of love, Jon Mark Ireland."
According to Pink News, Collins was mortified to see his name in an ad in the London Underground, but in general, he was happy about the proposal.
"Mr Ireland said his boyfriend initially texted him 'I'm going to kill you!' but gave him a resounding 'yes' this afternoon," reported Pink News. The couple may have their civil partnership on their fifth anniversary in May.
Of course, most of the country was preoccupied yesterday with news of Prince William's engagement to his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
