During a discussion about gun control, author and pro-equality Republican Meghan McCain invited Rachel Maddow to attend the next National Rifle Association convention with her.
Maddow told her guest, an NRA member and daughter of Sen. John McCain of Arizona, that she attended an NRA Ladies Day at the Range event on her first date with partner Susan Mikula.
"That's as close as I've ever gotten to the NRA, but I'm still very proud of that, I have to say," said Maddow.
"You can come with me to the next NRA convention," said McCain. "I'll take you with me. You can see what it's about. How about that?"
"Yes, I accept," said Maddow. "Absolutely."
As she signed off, McCain said, "I am going to hold you to that."
