Etheridge Has a New Girlfriend

Melissa Etheridge is dating again.

The rock singer is reportedly dating Nurse Jackie creator Linda Wallem. Wallem was reportedly the "best man" at Melissa's 2003 wedding to Tammy Lynn Michaels.

"Melissa and Linda have been best friends for over 10 years," a source told People magazine. "They got together three months after Melissa and Tammy broke up."

In a blog post titled "speak, spread, walk the talk," Tammy Lynn says she's known about Melissa and Linda for months, suggesting the two were involved while she was still living there and that she's moved on and found new friends.

She ends the post by writing, "Most importantly to me: the kids are all right."

The same day People published its story, Etheridge announced she will will join the cast of Broadway's American Idiot in February, taking over the role of drug dealer St. Jimmy from Green Day front man and Idiot coauthor Billie Joe Armstrong.

"Billie Joe and I always believed that it would be incredible to have a woman take on the role of St. Jimmy," director Michael Mayer said in a statement. "This character is seductive, thrilling and dangerous. Melissa Etheridge is all that and so much more. She's a rock icon and we couldn't be more thrilled that she's bringing her immense talent to American Idiot."

Last June, Etheridge made her Broadway debut in a special performance of Million Dollar Quartet.
