A man who allegedly attacked a man in one of New York City's oldest gay bars pleaded guilty to assault as a hate crime on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
Frederick Giunta, 45, reportedly entered the bar Julius in October, where he attacked a patron while spouting racial and antigay insults. Police said the victim was attempting to diffuse an altercation between Giunta and another man at the bar.
Giunta faces 3 1/2 years in prison.
