Julianne Moore has been cast as controversial former Alaska governor Sarah Palin in the HBO drama Game Change, reports website Deadline.
The role will provide a challenge for the versatile Moore, who supported Obama during the 2008 presidential election and who was most recently in movie theaters as a lesbian mother in The Kids Are All Right. Game Change is an adaptation of the book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann that documented the 2008 presidential election and follows John McCain's presidential campaign from Palin being selected as his running mate to their eventual defeat in the general election. The film will be directed by Jay Roache, who helmed the first two Austin Powers movies.
