A 41-year-old Massachusetts man has been charged with killing his husband in what police describe as a "tragic incident of domestic violence."
Brian Bergeron, 55, was found fatally stabbed inside his Malden apartment around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the office of Middlesex district attorney Gerard Leone. His husband and partner of more than two decades, Michael Losee, had reportedly called a friend in Florida and confessed to the killing. The friend then alerted authorities, to whom Losee surrendered Wednesday afternoon.
Friends of the couple, who describe the pair as kind and devoted, are shocked.
David Jackson, a onetime neighbor of Bergeron and Losee, said the two were "very compatible. I don't understand what would touch off such a thing."
