Fox News is expected to officially announce Monday that former U.S. senator Evan Bayh will be the network's newest contributor.
Bayh, a moderate Democrat who served as Indiana governor from 1989 to 1997 and was elected to the Senate in 1998, decided not to run for reelection in 2010 despite high poll numbers and sufficient finances to back his campaign. He said the extreme partisanship in Congress was the main factor in his decision not to run.
The Human Rights Campaign scored Bayh as favoring most gay rights bills that came through Congress during his tenure. He voted against a constitutional ban on marriage equality while supporting the end of "don't ask, don't tell" and adding sexual orientation to federal hate-crimes laws.
