The entertainment industry remembers Elizabeth Taylor as one of its greatest, most enduring stars and dedicated activists. Today in Los Angeles, Madame Tussauds will display its $300,000 wax figure of Taylor in one of her signature roles as Cleopatra. Fans are invited to visit and a condolence book has also been put on display for the public to sign. Oscar-winning actor Martin Landau, who costarred with Taylor in the 1963 epic Cleopatra, released a statement, saying, "It's a terrible loss. A unique talent and a singularly spectacular individual."

Sen. Dianne Feinstein: "California has lost a great star today. Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet inspired my childhood love of horses. Her passion for life and devotion to those less fortunate will continue to inspire me and others. I send my condolences to her family, and to her fans all over the world. Elizabeth was one of the greats and will be remembered as such."
Margaret Cho: "RIP Elizabeth Taylor queen of the fag hags."
