Lisa Cholodenko, director and cowriter of last year's Oscar-nominated modern family dramedy The Kids Are All Right, will next adapt the classic children's novel Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, reports Variety.
Written by Judith Viorst and first published in 1972, Alexander revolves around family members collectively enduring the worst day of their lives, and the titular protagonist suffers numerous setbacks after he wakes up with gum in his hair, loses his best friend, and develops a cavity. Choldenko's project will be live action and be released by 20th Century Fox.
