Fresh off hosting a prayer rally with an antigay group, Texas governor Rick Perry will announce this weekend that he's running for president, according to Politico.

The addition of Perry would mean yet another Republican will be vying for the party's nomination and competing for social conservatives' votes, which are already being fought over by former senator Rick Santorum and Rep. Michele Bachmann. Both of them signed antigay pledges from the Iowa group Family Leader and the National Organization for Marriage.

Perry will "disclose his intentions" Saturday and then head to New Hampshire, the website reports. If he does announce, Perry's entrance will coincide with the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa.

The Texas governor hosted a massive prayer rally this weekend in Houston with the American Family Association, which has been classified as a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center because of its repeated false statements about LGBT people.
