Hello and Happy Tuesday, folks!
Audience Editor Edgar Ramirez here, back in your inbox to say congratulations to Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and fiancé Nicolás Keenan! The couple announced in a joint Instagram post on Monday (during LGBTQ+ History Month too!) that they will become parents in 2027.
For Jetten, 38, who made history earlier this year by becoming the first openly gay and youngest prime minister of the Netherlands, the announcement adds another milestone to an already milestone-filled year, Desiree Guerrero writes.
Jetten brought his visibility as an openly gay world leader to New York last month. As The Advocate reported, he joined Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Sept. 24 at Manhattan’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, where they explored its LGBTQ+ archives and met young people who shared artwork they had created through its programs. Jetten was in town for the United Nations General Assembly and also visited the Stonewall Inn during the trip.
Discussing the importance of preserving LGBTQ+ history, Jetten emphasized “that so much work still has to be done all around the globe.”
Preach! Check out more from Desiree on the baby announcement here.
