This Mother's Day took on a special significance for Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli as they announced they are moms to a month-old daughter, George.

"Happy 1st Mother's Day to my beautiful wife, who four weeks ago today after laboring for almost 3 days gave birth to our first child -- our gorgeous daughter, George," Wiley wrote on Instagram.

"Welcome to the world, babygirl. We love you and we thank you for giving us the best 1st Mother's Day two ladies could ask for," she added.

Meanwhile, Morelli announced their baby's arrival by writing on Instagram, "4 weeks ago today, our daughter came into the world and changed everything. We are so happy, so grateful, and so tired. George Elizabeth, 4.11.21."

The women met and fell in love during the run of Orange Is the New Black while Wiley was playing the beloved character Poussey Washington and Morelli was a writer. The series was also significant for Morelli, who came out during the process of writing queer storylines for the characters. She shared her journey in a heartfelt post in 2014.

Wiley and Morelli were married in Palm Springs, Calif., in 2017. Since they left Orange Is the New Black, Wiley has starred on Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, while Morelli was an executive producer and the showrunner for Netflix's 2019 Tales of the Cityreboot.
