A group of 63 students and 73 parents argued in court that students' privacy was being violated at a Chicago-area school that let a transgender girl access the girls' locker room.

As the first out transgender editor at The Advocate, the native New Yorker continues her 30-year media career, in which she has earned more than a dozen awards, including two Emmys.
