The last Nazi war crimes suspect facing deportation from the U.S. has been sent back to Germany.
The Associated Press reports that Jakiw Palij, a camp guard, was taken from his New York City home Tuesday morning. Palij's deportation came 25 years after investigators first confronted him about his World War II past.
Palij had admitted lying to authorities to gain entry into the United States. He was ordered to be deported in 2003. But no European country wanted him. His presence in Queens, NY, attracted several protests over the years.
