Police in San Francisco have arrested a 15-year-old boy for his suspected role in a hate attack against a man on a Muni train earlier this month.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, the 26-year-old victim was exiting the J-Church line at Church at Market streets at 12:40 a.m. on August 14, when his backpack bumped one boy in a group getting on the train. The boy allegedly yelled an antigay slur and punched the victim in the face several times.

The victim, who was treated for minor injuries, identified his attacker through surveillance video. The suspect was familiar with juvenile justice officials because of previous contacts.

"On Friday, officers from the Police Department's hate crimes unit arrested the boy, police said. He was booked on suspicion of battery and possession of stolen property as well as a hate crimes enhancement," reported the Examiner.

The suspect was not identified because he is a juvenile. The other youths in his group are not considered suspects.
