POWER UP Announces Top 10 in Showbiz

LGBT film company and advocacy organization POWER UP announced its tenth list of the 10 Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz along with its second list of 10 Amazing Gay Men in Showbiz.

The listees include actors, directors, managers, and journalists, including Here Media's own Tracy Gilchrist, the editor in chief of SheWired.com (sister publication of The Advocate).

Ali Adler (WRITER) 2011 marks her 20-year writing career that began on the original Beverly Hills, 90210. She has also written and produced Just Shoot Me and Family Guy, and was executive producer on Chuck. She began her most recent endeavor with Greg Berlanti and Jon Feldman on No Ordinary Family, where she currently serves as co-executive producer.

Tabatha Coffey (REALITY STAR) has devoted her entire professional life to achieving excellence in hair design and education. She now brings her years of hands-on experience to help struggling salon owners turn around their businesses in her Bravo series Tabatha's Salon Takeover. Her life memoirs will be published by HarperCollins in spring 2011, when season 3 of Tabatha's Salon Takeover premieres on Bravo.

Savannah Dooley (WRITER) grew up in Los Angeles and attended Bennington College, where she studied screenwriting. She is a writer-producer on ABC Family's Huge, a drama focusing on teens at a weight-loss summer camp. She also wrote and coproduced Snapshot, a queer short that premiered at Outfest 2010. Dooley currently lives in L.A. and is working on several projects, including a feature.

Clementine Ford (ACTRESS) Actress and daughter of Cybill Shepherd. She has appeared in the films American Pie and Bring it On. She also had roles in the independent film Last Goodbye and the slasher flick Cherry Falls. She was on The L Word and is currently on The Young and the Restless. She is staring in POWER UP's upcoming feature film Girltrash: All Night Long.

Tracy E. Gilchrist (WRITER), a self-confessed cinephile with a degree in film theory from Mount Holyoke College, has acted as SheWired's editor in chief since its 2008 inception. Formerly, she worked as senior editor for Here Media's pioneering LesbianNation.com. New to Los Angeles in 2006, she landed a job reporting for the now Pulitzer-nominated National Enquirer but soon moved on.

Christine Moore (DIRECTOR) is an American director noted for her artfully gritty and unflinching directorial style. Her numerous directing credits include The Wire, Treme, CSI NY, CSI Miami, The Beast, The Cleaner, Jericho, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Three Rivers, and The Whole Truth. Christine resides in Los Angeles with her wife, Jessica, and their two children, Catherine and Jane.

Martha Sanchez (MANAGER) is a seasoned talent manager whose client list includes some of the most recognizable names in the GLBT community. Following stints in talent management with respected firms like Envision Entertainment and Rigberg/Rugolo, Martha joined Shelter Entertainment Group, where she advises the notable careers of Meredith Baxter, Jessica Clark, Cathy DeBuono, Natalie Garcia, Anthony Pazos, and Suzanne Westenhoefer, among others. Martha is also a producer of independent gay film, including the coming-of-age film Where The Red Buds Grow. She is currently producing a feature with the Film Collective and is a member of Women in Film.

Elizabeth Sarnoff (WRITER) was born in New York City and graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She then moved to Los Angeles and was lucky enough to get her first job writing television from the great David Milch in his new hour-long drama series Big Apple. After two seasons on NBC's Crossing Jordan she joined Mr. Milch again as a writer and producer on his new HBO Western Deadwood. For the last five years she has served as a writer and was an executive producer on ABC's Lost.

Kirsten Vangsness (ACTRESS) is one of the entertainment industry's most charming performers. She plays the blond, bespectacled, brainiac, tech-kitten Penelope Garcia on the hit CBS drama Criminal Minds. Originally, the role of Garcia was scripted as a one-episode guest-starring role, but due to the overwhelming audience response to Vangsness -- who last year was named one of the Top Ten Scene Stealers by Entertainment Weekly -- by the middle of the season, Vangsness was asked to join the show as a series regular, thereby giving Garcia free rein to hit on Derek Morgan (played by Shemar Moore) to her imaginary heart's content.

Kathy Wolfe (DISTRIBUTOR) Wolfe Video began as a small mail-order distribution outlet for LGBT films. In 25 years Wolfe has grown to be the most successful exclusive distributor of LGBT themed films on DVD and video on demand via the Internet and television. This anniversary year, Kathy has received many honors, including NCLR's Community Partner Award and Philadelphia Q Fest's Barbara Gittings Award.

MEN:

Howard Bragman (PUBLICIST), producer, author, speaker, activist, and educator, has been practicing his craft for more than three decades and ranks as one of the best-known and most respected voices in his industry. Currently chairman and founder of Fifteen Minutes, a respected boutique public relations agency, Bragman was also one of the founders of PMK/BNC, the largest entertainment public relations agency in the world.

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland (ATTORNEY) is deputy national executive director and general counsel of Screen Actors Guild, overseeing Guild legal affairs and strategy and related areas. Along with actor-comedian Jason Stuart, Duncan cofounded the SAG LGBT Actors Committee to advocate for workplace nondiscrimination for out LGBT actors. Duncan has worked for LGBT equality since college and is a past copresident and honoree of the Lesbian & Gay Lawyers' Association of Los Angeles.

Wilson Cruz (ACTOR) first won the hearts of audiences playing Rickie on the critically acclaimed series My So-called Life. He again earned critical acclaim for playing the role of Angel in Rent in its West Coast premiere at the Ahmanson Theatre in L.A. and then on Broadway. Wilson received the Theatre L.A. Ovation Award. Wilson later starred in the West Coast premiere of Jonathan Larson's off-Broadway show Tick, Tick, Boom! On the big screen he starred in such films as MGM's sci-fi thriller Supernova and Disney's Nixon, directed by Oliver Stone, and Warner Bros.' He's Just Not That Into You. He is also no stranger to the indie film world, starring in such films as Johns, All Over Me, Joyride, Coffee Date, and Party Monster. His latest film, The People I've Slept With, was the centerpiece film at Outfest Fusion in Los Angeles and will air on the Logo network this fall after its theatrical release.

James Duff (PRODUCER) is the executive producer of The Closer. His writing credits include The D.A, Enterprise, Felicity, The Agency, Wolf Lake, Popular, The War at Home, and Doing Time on Maple Drive.

Keya Khayatian (TALENT AGENT) is an agent at United Talent Agency. He represents directors and writers.

Mark Noble (PRODUCER) is senior field producer for Access Hollywood, the daily entertainment newsmagazine show, and guest correspondent for TV One Access, the monthly spin-off showcasing black Hollywood. Prior to joining Access Hollywood, Mark's professional career took him through stops at WABC TV in New York as well as Inside Edition and Extra.

Peter Paige (ACTOR) is best known for his five-year run as Emmett Honeycutt on Showtime's hit series Queer as Folk. He has numerous film and TV credits, including Ping Pong Playa, Our America, and guest star/recurring roles on CSI:Miami, Grey's Anatomy, Related, Will & Grace, and others. Paige also has a long history of work on the stage, performing nearly every genre of play from the Greeks to Shakespeare to contemporary. As a director, he has completed two feature films: Say Uncle, released in 2006, and Leaving Barstow (2009) -- both currently available on DVD.

Howard Rosenman (PRODUCER), one of Hollywood's first openly gay producers, executive-produced Common Threads: Tales From the Quilt, winner of both an Academy Award for Best Documentary and Peabody Award; The Celluloid Closet, nominated for an Oscar and won him his second Peabody; Paragraph 175, about gays in the Holocaust. Howard's career began working for Katherine Hepburn in the musical Coco, in 1968. He's produced over 29 features, series, and TV movies, including Father of the Bride, Family Man, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Michael Sluchan (NETWORK EXECUTIVE) is vice president, original scripted series programming, at USA Network. He developed and oversees production on Royal Pains. He is the current executive on In Plain Sight and oversaw Monk, The Starter Wife, and The Dead Zone. Joining USA in October 1999, Sluchan oversaw many long-form projects, including Murder in Greenwich, The Rudy Giuliani Story, The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss, and the miniseries Spartacus. Sluchan got his start at ABC News.

Steve Tyler (ACTOR) has an award-winning acting career that spans two decades and two coasts. He has appeared from page to stage, on billboards and screens large and small. A familiar face, Mr. Tyler has done over 30 films and television shows and 200 commercials, and was the Kool Cigarette Man in billboards and magazines worldwide. Tyler also has over 40 theatrical productions to his credit, including world premieres First Couple, Tiffany Theatre; The Cat's Meow, Coast Playhouse; Rubicon, Matrix Theater; and Self Help, Highways Theater.
