The Dentist Behind Hillary 2012

HillaryforPresidentx390 (Screengrab) | Advocate.com

The first television ad of the 2012 presidential campaign supports Hillary Clinton, and its creator said that he thinks Clinton would have done more for equality by now than President Barack Obama.

CNN
first reported on the $5,000 ad purchased by Chicago dentist William DeJean that began to run Wednesday in New Orleans. Watch a version of the ad below.

"She has more experience working in and with the White House than most living presidents,” the ad says about Secretary of State Clinton. “She is one of the most admired women in our nation's history. Let's make sure the president we should have elected in 2008 will be on the ballot in 2012. Hillary 2012: Hillary Clinton for President. Start now. Where there's a Hill there's a way.”

Contacted by The Advocate about the ad, DeJean said, “I think my commercial is saying what most are thinking right now. I think there's a lot of buyer's remorse with Obama.”

The ad does not address gay rights, and DeJean said that progress on that front did not specifically motivate the ad. However, he said that he believes a Clinton administration would have accomplished more for equality than President Obama has achieved at this point.

“I think she would have done what she said she was going to do,” said DeJean. “I don't think he's necessarily followed through on his promises. I saw a sign at the Chicago gay pride parade that said, 'Change, my ass.'”

He added, “Bill Clinton recently came out for gay marriage. I am certain that eventually Hillary Clinton would have come out for gay marriage.”

The ad may also run in Washington, New York, Los Angeles, and possibly Houston.

Clinton has repeatedly denied any interest in making another run for the presidency.

Go Hillary! At this point in time, I'd rather vote for a bag-of-dildos than wasting my vote on the same moron sitting in the WH right now. A bag-of-dildos couldn't do any worse. A bag-of-dildos at least won't soil the WH with a hideous rug with quotes stolen from some Minutemen leader and given to someone else. NObama is not only a moron BUT ALSO A THIEF. Instead of pretending like NObama is God's gift to this country, I wish some of the posters on this thread would just man-up and admit racial solidarity is the real reason for their unhealthy affection of this buffoon. Until then can we move on to looking for our next REAL friend and REAL advocate for the next WH.

I think Obama has been far to accommodating to conservatives and esp. the religious types. Remember him inviting Rick Warren to deliver the inaugural invocation? That should have served as an omen, b/c it was. For an inexperienced pol, he did the best that he could. Unfortunately, he inherited a true nightmare from Bush the dumber. I think there was just too much going on and he didn't want to expend any political capital in our behalf. But remember, there are many left-leaning groups that are very frustrated with Obama. His presidency is in great trouble; clearly, he wouldn't be reelected if the election were held today. Let's see what the next two years bring. But, I don't believe he will do anything for us.

@Jay, Where in my comment did I say President Obama has been our "fierce advocate”? I didn’t. What I did say was: “Am I 100% happy with the way he has been handling things? Not in the least.” What I am is realistic and appreciative with what President Obama has given to the LGBT community. Do I want more? I certainly do. But I sure as hell am not going to throw arrows in the President’s back. And please tell me how a President Hilary Clinton would be a more effective President. I sure would like to know that, especially since she had more bad blood with the republicans and many democrats. So, again, how in the world would she have been more effective? And 59 votes don’t mean a damn thing when you have Blue Dog democrats who are actually republicans in all but name and who will not vote in favor of gay rights. When you become President come and tell us how easy it is. Ok? But somehow, I think many will say you are inept too.

@Mitch, Please explain, because, I somehow missed President Obama showing his discomfort and homophobia to the gay community. Clinton marched in a Pride Parade? Big deal! That’s supposed to mean something? Did not Rudy Giuliani host a Pride celebration at Gracie Mansion when he was mayor? And we all know he’s for gay rights. Right? You don’t want to support President Obama (the most gay friendly President this country has ever had) because he’s not moving as fast as you want him to. Fine. Don’t support him. Throw your support to someone who is not even going to run. Throw your support to someone who, given the same predicaments as President Obama, is going to act the same way. And by default support the Republicans who will do not one thing to help us out. And you know what, you’re going to get exactly what you deserve in the end—absolutely nothing. But sadly, in the process you’re going to drag the rest of us with you.

Sorry bma83, I think you're the stupid one if you still believe Obama is our "fierce advocate." He has proven inept in governing. I think Hillary would have been a far more effective President. If with 59 votes in the Senate and a large majority in the House, Obama is unable to pass ENDA and repeal DADT, he must not be trying very hard. Those of us who donated to his campaign and worked for his election have a lot of buyer's remorse and with very good reason. He and the Democratic Party are not getting any more of my money. I will, however, donate to particular candidates who support gay rights, such as Senator Boxer and Attorney General Brown.

bma, you should google "Hillary Clinton Pride Parade" and search the photos that it brings up. You will see here marching in a parade with a pride flag behind her. Obama wouldn't be caught dead doing something like that. We can't know what Hillary Clinton would have done differently, but we can (and do) know that she is more comfortable with LGBTs than Obama. Hillary 2010 :-)

I'm SOOOOO down for a Hillary 2012 campaign. I supported her over Obama. She technically won the primaries anyway, and she SHOULD already be in the White House. All Obama does is piss everyone off! Buyer's remorse?? You bet!

cont. And those who do have buyer’s remorse are the stupid naive ones who think President Obama could have repealed DOMA, repealed DADT, passed a same-sex marriage bill, passed immigration reform, passed health care reform, passed a green energy bill, end two wars, get peace in the Middle East, on top of getting the economy up and running all in under TWO years all the while having a republican party that hate his guts, questions his nationality, religion, and patriotism with each passing moment. Like I said, stupid and naïve. William DeJean, go jump in a lake, and take your cronies with you.

I really can’t stand people like William DeJean. I actually tolerate wretched republicans more than I tolerate people like William DeJean. It’s oh so easy and convenient to say what would have been because we can always dream. If Hillary Clinton were President there is no evidence whatsoever that she would have or could have done more for the LGBT community than President Obama. None! I supported President Obama in 2008 and I support him now. No buyer’s remorse from my end. Am I 100% happy with the way he has been handling things? Not in the least. But who in the world could be the perfect President that kept all of their promises? Hillary Clinton? Please!!!!
