Reuters reports that Elton John and Eminem made another joint appearance at an awards show, this time at Monday’s Brits, England’s biggest annual pop music awards ceremony. The controversial rapper, who received a standing ovation from the audience of 5,000 when he performed “The Real Slim Shady”—wearing a hockey mask and carrying a chain saw—was named Best International Male Artist. Receiving the award, Eminem joked, “And the winner is...Steely Dan,” referring to his loss of the Album of the Year Grammy last week. Gay rights activists had promised to disrupt the event with a vocal protest over Eminem’s appearance, but only about 20 activists braved torrential rains to gather outside Earls Court with signs reading “Don’t reward homophobia.”
