Discussing LGBT rights, attorney Charles LiMandri says 'Satan does frequently overplay his hand.'

The lawyer representing a Jewish group that tries to "convert" gays and lesbians to heterosexuals gave an incendiary interview to a Catholic radio station, which made clear his pernicious homophobia.

Charles LiMandri is representing the Jersey City-based group Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing, a former gay "conversion" center that is suing New Jersey for its law banning such practices, which have been denounced as ineffective and harmful by every major medical and mental health group in the country, as well as by President Obama and other top federal officials.

Aside from arguing JONAH's case in a lawsuit brought by four young men who allege that JONAH fraudulently claimed it could "cure" them of their sexual orientation, LiMandri moonlights as president and chief counsel of the antigay and antitrans Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund.

In an interview with the Catholic Answers radio show uploaded earlier this month, LiMandri does not parse words. Regarding a potential backlash against LGBT rights, LiMandri references the Chick-fil-A controversy, saying, "I predicted that, and the more the side overplays its hand -- it is spiritual warfare, and as we know, Satan does frequently overplay his hand... This is a very real problem for Christians."

The host then asks LiMandri to clarify his statements on Satan. While he says no individual is Satanic, LiMandri adds that, "The last three popes I have mentioned have said this is an evil that is being inflicted on society."
