       The Romance
            Writers of America, the premier professional organization
            for       writers of romance novels, has accepted openly gay
            author Scott Pomfret       as a member. Pomfret and his life
            partner, Scott Whittier, cowrite       the "Romentics"
            series of books. (The most recent, Hot Sauce, was
            published in June by Warner Books.)       "It's nice to see
            that an organization like the RWA is open to
            recognizing that romance is not a 'hetero only' institution
            and that gay       men have romantic lives--and
            needs--as strong as any Harlequin       heroine," said
            Pomfret in a statement.
