The Human Rights Campaign has recruited pop star Pink to be the star of an online public art project that attempts to spur discussion on coming-out and other LGBT issues.
Debuting a few weeks before National Coming Out Day on October 11, the effort is titled "Snapshot Photo Project" and features a photo of Pink holding up a sign declaring "Talk About It." The HRC is hoping people will discuss coming-out issues and other pertinent LGBT topics of the day. Participants are encouraged to send any photos of themselves, friends, family, or coworkers to HRC.org/comingout.
"Pink is one of millions of straight Americans who support fairness and honesty for everyone--GLBT or straight," said HRC president Joe Solmonese. "This project will show the faces of countless Americans who support openness over painful silence and isolation. Young people who are afraid to come out will see these pictures and faces and know that they are not alone." (The Advocate)
