       Meg Ryan is
            signed on to star in The Best Awful, an HBO
            miniseries       adaptation of the Carrie Fisher novel,
                The Hollywood Reporter and       Reuters reported
            Thursday.     
       The novel extends
            the story of Fisher's loosely autobiographical novel,
                Postcards From the Edge, which is about a bipolar
            ex-actress with       a gay ex-husband. The drama in her
            life induces her dependency on       prescribed drugs and a
            wild life.     
       Fisher is
            currently onstage at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles
            performing a one-woman show titled Wishful Drinking.
