New York AIDS organization to open new headquarters

New York City's Momentum AIDS Project, one of the city's largest HIV/AIDS service organizations, will open a new headquarters in Chelsea on June 17 with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Scheduled to attend the event are New York City councilwoman Christine Quinn and Frank Oldham, coordinator of the Mayor's Office of AIDS Policy Coordination. "Our new space will help us be flexible and serve the growing needs of clients, particularly the rapidly growing number of clients over 50," said MAP executive director Dawn Bryan. "Even among the disenfranchised communities we serve, people are worse off, and more of them are seeking a wider range of services from us." MAP provides health and support services for people with HIV/AIDS and their families at nine sites in four of the city's five boroughs and is best known for its communal meals programs. The agency was founded in 1985.
