House approves $3.4 billion to fight AIDS overseas
The U.S. House of Representatives on Friday voted 373-34 for a $21.3 billion fiscal 2007 foreign aid spending bill that includes a total of $3.4 billion to fight AIDS overseas, including $445 million for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. The amount approved for the Global Fund was double the amount President Bush had requested in his fiscal 2007 budget proposal. (The Advocate)
