Olly Alexander, the voice and vision behind the group Years & Years, just released an exuberant video for his new single, "Starstruck," with the hopes of offering up "three minutes of interstellar ecstasy."

The video for the uptempo song finds the out British musician playing two roles, with one version playfully lusting after the other. Choreographed by Sherrie Silver (who helped craft Childish Gambino's unforgettable "This Is America" video), Alexander's alter egos dance, leap, and mug for the camera.

The song was originally inspired by a vision of the night sky Alexander saw when he took a rare trip outside London during the pandemic.

"Since we've all had to stop, all I've wanted to do is go out and dance," Alexander says in a statement. "So I've been putting all that pent up energy into the music. 'Starstruck' is about the rush you get when you're with somebody you're really into, it's about holding onto a good feeling and not letting it go. Like most of us I've spent the past year at home, and I wanted to create something super positive and fun for people (and myself) to bop along too."

The "Starstruck" single follows Alexander's lauded lead role in HBO Max's It's a Sin, a miniseries conceived and written by Russell T Davies (Queer as Folk) that followed a group of friends during the 1980s AIDS crisis.

"Starstruck," available now, will be part of Years & Years' forthcoming, so far unnamed third album. Watch the video below:
