Sex Star to Host Obama Benefit

On Friday night Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker will host a fund-raiser for Barack Obama in Washington, D.C.

The event will be held at Vida Fitness and will be Parker's second Obama fund-raiser; her first was an event she cohosted with Vogue editor Anna Wintour on September 9 in New York City.

Organizers of the event apparently hope Parker's icon status will lure gay attendees. Event organizer and Vida Fitness owner David von Storch told the blog Pam's House Blend, "It's hard to get many in our community involved in the political process, particularly the younger generation who came of age during the Bush administration. Having an event with a gay icon like Sarah Jessica Parker and for a candidate like Barack Obama allows us to appeal to this demographic."

Some tickets will be available for only $100, Von Storch said. (Neal Broverman, The Advocate)
