Emmy-winning Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon is lending her celebrity name and political activism to the effort to repeal Florida's ban on adoption by gays and lesbians.
The out actress will be at Miami Beach's Shore Club on Saturday to assist the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida in its campaign to end the ban, which is the nation's only adoption prohibition that explicitly bars gays from adopting. Nixon will be joined by Republican U.S. representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who also supports repealing the ban.
