The political consultant who charged the Republican National Committee nearly $2,000 for a night out at a West Hollywood club known for its risque gay nights has said he plans to return the money, CNN reported Monday.

Erik Brown is the president of Dynamic Marketing, Inc., which counts companies including Century 21, Ford, Honda, and the Salvation Army as clients. His company organized the event at West Hollywood nightclub Voyeur and billed the RNC for the party. The firm was reimbursed $1,946.25.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele is facing calls for his resignation following reports of his freewheeling spending, including the club event.

According to DailyCaller.com, the February evening out at West Hollywood club Voyeur was part of an effort to groom young Republicans. A formal event at a Beverly Hills hotel preceded the Voyeur after-party.

Reports indicate Steele was not at Voyeur that night. Calls for his resignation have cited excessive spending, including his reported inquiry about the purchase of a private plane.
