American Eagle Outfitters has agreed to change its policies and training to be more inclusive of transgender employees, reports the New York Daily News. Community organization Make the Road New York complained to state attorney general Andrew Cuomo about what it described as a pattern of antitransgender discrimination in hiring, claims that a resulting investigation supported.

"To avoid further expense and the distraction of a prolonged argument, [we have] agreed to a compromise settlement in this case, with the understanding that AEO is not admitting to the findings. We wholeheartedly believe that transgender individuals should be treated equally," a company spokesperson said.
