Only in Massachusetts: The Republicans vying for governor and lieutenant governor of the Bay State, the latter of whom is gay, participated in this weekend's Boston Pride parade.
Charlie Baker hopes to become Massachusetts's next governor -- his running mate is the state's gay senate minority leader, Richard Tisei. Baker, who has a gay brother, said at the event, "This is another opportunity to support 40 years of progress in this state as somebody who has personal experience with this issue, especially with some of the issues with respect to marriag,e I thought it was important to be here today."
Also participating in the parade was Massachusetts's current governor, Deval Patrick, a Democrat. The gay-friendly Patrick, who speaks often about his lesbian daughter, hopes to be reelected.
