Scott Pruitt has resigned from the Environmental Protection Agency amidst over a dozen investigations. Now, the EPA will be led by an interim chief, Andrew Wheeler. Wheeler was a coal industry lobbyist before he was confirmed as Pruitt's deputy in April. Wheeler has also refused to attribute climate change to humans. In a congressional hearing he said, "I believe that man has an impact on the climate, but it's not completely understood what that impact is," according to Inside Climate News. He also has much more experience in Washington than Pruitt, meaning he could be more effective at destroying policy in order to support the fossil fuel industries.
