The Billons star made TV history -- again.
Asia Kate Dillon has already made history as the first gender-nonbinary character on mainstream television in Showtime's Billions.
Dillon, who uses singular they/them/their pronouns, made another landmark TV moment when they explainedwhat it means to simultaneously identify as female and gender-nonbinary on The Ellen Show.
Ellen was enthusiastic about having Dillon as a guest saying "I'm huge fan of that show and yours and I'm the one who said, 'Please, I want whoever that is on the show."
She asked Dillon to explain what gender non-binary means since both Dillon and their Billions character Taylor identify that way.
"After doing some research, I understood, Oh, sex and identity are different. Female is a sex, and sex is between our legs and gender identity is between our ears," Dillon shared.
After asking Dillon if they had a boyfriend and being told "I have a partner who is a self-identified man," Ellen laughed and admitted, "It's really confusing and I think people assume just because I'm gay I understand all of this and I don't." Ellen did not shy away from this teachable moment and thus made a historic moment.
