Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French to be honored at TV festival

Gay comedy icons Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French--who, together or apart, have been behind such landmark shows as Absolutely Fabulous, French and Saunders, and The Vicar of Dibley--will be the first women to receive the honorary Golden Rose award at the Montreux TV Festival this year, reports BBC News. The Rose d'Or d'Honneur, which will be awarded to them on April 27 in Montreux, Switzerland, is "in special recognition of their work and career," according to a festival spokeswoman. Previous recipients of the honor include Benny Hill and Monty Python in 1985.
