Sony Pictures Classics acquires new film from Love and Death on Long Island director

Owning Mahowny, the latest film from out director Richard Kwietniowski (Love and Death on Long Island, The Ballad of Reading Gaol), was acquired for U.S. distribution by Sony Pictures Classics, reports indieWIRE.com. Based on a true story, the film follows a bank executive (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) with a gambling addiction, who swindles millions from his workplace. Owning Mahowny also stars Minnie Driver, Maury Chaykin, and John Hurt.
