“Out & Equal makes life better for individuals and helps businesses be more successful by giving employees the tools they need to call for equal treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people at work. Employees who are out, safe and valued at work are more satisfied, productive and creative.â€
—Selisse Berry, Founding Executive Director Out & Equal Workplace Advocates
Out & Equal is committed to ending discrimination for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees. The organization is the only national non-profit in the United States that focuses exclusively on workplace equality for LGBT people. They believe that people should be judged by the work they do, not by their sexual orientation or gender identity. Out & Equal works to protect and empower employees to be productive and successful for themselves, their families, their communities, and their employers, and to contribute to achieving a world free of discrimination for everyone.
Out & Equal organizes the annual Workplace Summit, where thousands of LGBT employees, human resources and diversity professionals, executives and allies get the tools they need to create equal treatment for LGBT people at work. Diverse and inclusive workplaces translate into creative and successful businesses. This year, the event will be held in Dallas from October 25-28. At this dynamic event, presenters share from their real-life experience what truly works to transform businesses and cultures to become fully inclusive of LGBT people, where employees can be out, safe and valued.
But Out & Equal is far more than the highly visible Workplace Summit. Every day, they champion policies both in the workplace and in society to stop discrimination against LGBT people. Their programs include LGBTCareerLink, a successful job board to connect people with LGBT-friendly employers; free monthly Town Calls on current issues; training and education programs that provide powerful tools to corporations and individuals; an extensive registry of LGBT employee resource groups (ERGs); diverse local programming organized by Regional Affiliate Leadership Councils; the Business of Change, a resource for LGBT organizations and corporations seeking to work together; and awards that honor pioneers and leaders in workplace equality.
