The right-wing talk show host draws this twisted conclusion from the story of a father-daughter romantic relationship.

A father and daughter have fallen in love and plan to marry (although their union won't be legally recognized) -- because marriage equality, at least in the opinion of right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

While the couple has remained anonymous, the daughter gave an interview to New York magazine for a story, published online January 15, about romantic and sexual attraction between people who are biologically related. The woman, now 18, has been in a relationship with her father for two years, having reconnected with him after an estrangement of 12 years. He is twice her age. They plan to have a ceremonial wedding and eventually move to New Jersey, which does not outlaw consensual incest between adults.

"Do you remember how everyone laughed when we warned you people about this very thing happening once society started to redefine marriage and redefine what makes up a legitimate relationship?" Limbaugh said in his Wednesday broadcast, ignoring the fact that incest has occurred throughout history.

He also ignored the fact that no government will license or recognize incestuous marriages, and there is no significant political movement advocating their legalization. Although New Jersey does not prosecute adults in consensual incestuous relationships, it does not license or recognize their marriages. And a legislator in the state plans to introduce a bill that would make such relationships a criminal offense.
