Delaware has received a $1.3 million grant from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide housing services to HIV-positive state residents and their family members, The (Wilmington, Del.) News Journal reports. The money will help provide transitional housing and support for families affected by HIV in Kent and Sussex counties at risk of homelessness. Connections Community Support Programs, Inc., which sought the funding, says low-income HIVers can spend up to two years on waiting lists for permanent housing and therefore often have immediate temporary housing needs. The money will be used to rent apartments to serve as temporary homes for those on housing waiting lists, say CCSP officials. (Advocate.com)
