Prominent businessman and AIDS philanthropist Beau Clarke died in London on May 1 at age 61. According to GLBT site EdgeBoston.com, police were still investigating the cause of his death.
Clarke was the head of Icon Capital, the fifth largest independent leasing and financing company in the U.S. He was well-known in party circles as the partner of DJ Tony Moran, with whom he shared three residences.
Together they spearheaded several LGBT and AIDS fund-raising events. Clarke was a top donor to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation as well as Care Resource, a prominent AIDS service in the Miami area. He also was an early supporter of Sean Maloney, an out attorney who ran for the New York State attorney general seat in 2006. (The Advocate)
