The former church of fallen pastor Ted Haggard has picked a replacement. The Reverend Brady Boyd was chosen by the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colo.

"We believe his heart and vision align closely with the heart and vision of New Life Church," a message on the church's Web site reads. "He has strong leadership gifts, significant experience and training in senior pastoral ministry, and a passion for teaching the Scriptures. He is a man of character, proven experience, and good reputation."

It was revealed last year that Haggard had a relationship with escort Mike Jones, after which Haggard left the church and went through a short stint at rehab.

Boyd has been the associate senior pastor at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, since 2001. Prior to that, he served as the senior pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Hereford, Texas. He will begin tenure at New Life Church on August 12 by meeting with parishioners and will be fully installed on August 27. (The Advocate)
