Pop star and philanthropist Annie Lennox was awarded the 2009 Woman of Peace Award at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, which took place this week in Berlin.
Lennox was honored for her work with women and children suffering from AIDS in Africa; her SING campaign has raised $2 billion for HIV treatment, testing, prevention, and education. The 54-year-old singer accepted her award wearing a T-shirt that read "HIV Positive," and dedicated the Woman of Peace Award to all women fighting HIV and AIDS.
