Defense secretary Robert Gates says President Obama might end up vetoing legislation that would lift the ban on openly gay service members, the Associated Press reports.
Obama's veto wouldn't be based on his feelings about "don't ask, don't tell" -- he supports repealing the antigay law -- but on the fact that DADT is tied to a military spending bill that might end up including projects Gates calls wasteful.
He told Fox News Sunday that he wants to get rid of an aircraft engine and additional transport aircraft, but there are some congressmen fighting to make sure funding for those projects stay in the bill.[youtube https://www.youtube.com/v/ViG51__Kxzw&hl=en_US&fs=1& expand=1 site_id=25879312]
