Two men who claim their potential landlord refused to let them move into an apartment because he feared "God's punishment" for renting to a gay couple have taken the man before a human rights council in Canada.
Scott Robertson and Richard Anthony say they signed a year-long lease but then property owner Will Goertzen refused to honor it when he found out they were a couple. They said Goertzen's decision left them homeless for 10 days.
Goertzen says he decided to rent the apartment to a family rather than the couple because he feared "God's punishment." The couple, citing "injury to dignity, feelings, and self respect," are asking for a monetary payment.
A decision is expected later this summer.
