Clint Eastwood may be attempting to recruit Joaquin Phoenix to play J.
Edgar Hoover's lover in the biopic of the famed first director of the
FBI.
Eastwood is directing Hoover, which is set to star Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. Phoenix would play Clyde Tolson, the FBI's associate director from 1947 to 1972, according to New York magazine'sVulture blog. The script was written by Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
This would mark Phoenix's first feature-film role since he announced he was leaving acting to explore a career in music. He has since revealed that announcement was part of the mockumentary film I'm Still Here.
