Veteran producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan will be honored by the New York Musical Theatre Festival for their work in bringing musical theater to a worldwide, pop-culture audience, reports Broadway World.
Daniel Radcliffe, who currently stars in the hit revival How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, will present the award to Meron and Zadan at the Eighth Annual Season Awards Gala, which will take place at the Hudson Theatre in New York November 6.
Besides their current hit, Meron and Zadan produced the 2010 revival of Promises, Promises, which starred Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth. They have also produced numerous film and television versions of Broadway musicals, including the Academy Award-winning Chicago,Hairspray, and the Bette Midler version of Gypsy. They're also coproducers on one of 2012's most eagerly anticipated television programs. Smash, which premieres on NBC February 6, offers a tantalizing glimpse into the production of a Broadway musical and will star Debra Messing and several of musical theater's most talented performers.
