James Alex Fields Jr. has already been charged with state crimes, including murder, for killing Heather Heyer and injuring others after he rammed his car into a group of people. The 21-year-old was attended a white nationalist rally organized by Unite the Right last August in Charlottesville, Virginia. After a contention confrontation with counter-protesters at a park in the city, Fields got into his car and drove into a group of them on a street.
