The Dodgers will become the second team, after the San Francisco Giants, to wear LGBTQ+ Pride caps for a game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are going to show some LGBTQ+ Pride in June.

For the first time, the Dodgers will wear special Pride caps for the team's annual Pride Night, being held this year on June 3, Reuters reports. The "LA" logo on the caps will be filled in with rainbow colors. The caps will be for sale at souvenir stands as well.

Then, on June 11, both the Dodgers and Giants will wear Pride caps for a game in San Francisco, marking the first time two teams have done so. The Giants last year became the first to sport Pride caps.

"The Los Angeles Dodgers are proud to stand with and recognize the LGBTQ+ community in Los Angeles and globally," said a statement from Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten. "The Dodgers have a history of breaking barriers, and we're proud to be a part of another chapter in MLB history as the Dodgers and Giants each wear their team's pride caps on June 11. While our organizations have a long-storied rivalry on the field, we stand together when it comes to equality for all."

For Pride Night at Dodger Stadium, fans can buy a special ticket package that includes a Dodgers jersey trimmed in rainbow colors. The night will feature a postgame fireworks show set to music by DJ Bowie Jane, with fans allowed on the field, and appearances by several guests representing the LGBTQ+ community, including Billy Bean, Major League Baseball's senior vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion; former MLB umpire Dale Scott; retired MMA fighter Fallon Fox; and Army First Lt. Belita Edwards. Gay musician Wils will perform the national anthem.

Before the game, there will be a ceremony honoring the late Glenn Burke, a gay man who played for the Dodgers and the Oakland Athletics in the 1970s, Dodger Insider reports. Members of his family will be present and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

"The Dodgers are once again proud to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community during this annual event, which has become one of the most anticipated nights of the season," said a statement from Lon Rosen, Dodgers executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "We are also very happy to recognize Glenn Burke and honor his memory with his family in a very special pregame ceremony."

Also before the game, the Dodgers and LA Pride will host the city's Pride Kickoff Party in the Right Field Plaza Bar from 5:30 p.m. until the first pitch at 7:10 p.m. Another feature of Pride Night will be a raffle benefiting the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
