AIDS advocacy training will be held April 12-13 in Springfield, Ill. Participants will learn about current HIV policy issues, how to talk about AIDS with legislators, and develop strategies to raise visibility of and garner support for comprehensive AIDS policy. Training will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on April 12 at the Renaissance Springfield Hotel, 701 E. Adams Ave.; lunch will be provided. Lobbying efforts with Illinois lawmakers will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 13 at the Illinois state capitol, Second and Capital streets. The training and lobbying sessions are free; travel, lodging, and all other food expenses are the responsibility of each participant. A small number of partial scholarships for low-income HIV-positive people will be provided by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and will cover one night of lodging and breakfast.
